I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at Texas State. Broadly, my work focuses on the interplay between symbiotic relationships (both mutualistic and parasitic), immunity, and ecology. As a postdoc in the Bolnick lab at the University of Connecticut, I investigated host-parasite dynamics and evolutionary/ecological immunology in the three-spined stickleback. I received my PhD from the University of Texas at Arlington where I worked in the Mydlarz lab. My dissertation research focused on the use of both transcriptional and biochemical data to understand immune and stress responses of marine invertebrates and non-model species. Additionally, I used these techniques to investigate the relationship between symbiosis and immunity in scleractinian corals. For more information about my research interests, visit the link above.
